Nicolas van Poucke is one of the leading young pianists from The Netherlands.

He is praised for his sensitive and very personal tone formation and a special feeling for timing and phrasing.

Nicolas strives to be a complete musician focused primarily on recitals but his range of activities are diverse.

Performances have taken him through Europe, The United States of America, Canada, Cuba and South Korea.

He has played many recitals most notably in 2018 in The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. And can be regularly be heard and seen on Dutch National Television, Radio4, Klara and BR-KLASSIK.

With different orchestras in The Netherlands he performed concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Rachmaninoff (2 & 3) and Gershwin.

His debut album was released in 2013 with works of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms and was enthusiastically received by the Dutch press.

The Volkskrant wrote: "A CD that grabs you through an awesome concentration and a beautifully developed sense of timing”. Nicolas’ second album with Chopin's Sonatas No. 2 & 3 will be released in the near future by Gutman Records on vinyl.

Another important part of Nicolas’ musical activities is chamber music.

His chamber music partners have included Colin Carr, Christiaan Bor, Claudio Bohorquez, Marie-Elisabeth Hecker, Godfried Hoogeveen,Gil Sharon, Andreas Reiner, Igor Roma and Pavel Vernikov.

He also regularly works with members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and will embark on a US tour of chamber music concerts organized by the RCO this fall.

Nicolas has been playing together with his sister, cellist Ella van Poucke since a young age.

This season they will perform Beethoven’s Complete works for piano and cello at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and in Berlin.

Born in Baarn, The Netherlands, Nicolas started playing the piano at age six.

His formal studies where at the Conservatory in Amsterdam where he studied with David Kuyken and Jan Wijn. Throughout his education he has been mentored by the greatest musicians on the world like Martha Argerich, Murray Perahia and Emanuel Ax.

Nicolas lives in Amsterdam with his girlfriend and their one year old daughter.
