Matthew Whittall (January 21, 1975) is a Canadian-born composer living in Finland. He was awarded the Teosto Prize in 2013 for his composition Dulcissima, Clara, sonans. In 2018, Whittall was nominated for the Finnish Music Publisher Association's "Composer of the Year" award.

Whittall studied at Vanier College, Montreal, Canada, from 1992 to 1994, where she completed the Diplome d'Études Collégiales. He then studied at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, 1995-1997, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree. Between 1998 and 2001, he studied at New York State University, Stony Brook, where he received his Master of Arts degree. He has been studying in Finland since 2001, and his doctoral dissertation is in progress at the Sibelius Academy.

Whittall made it to the semifinals in 2005 at the Queen Elizabeth Music Contest and won the Toronto Symphony New Creations Competition in 2004.

The Teosto Award winner Dulcissima, Clara, sonans portrays the visions of Hildegard Bingen. He used Hildegard's lyrics, but he only included one melody quote in his seventh part.
