Hungarian bass Levente Páll makes his Royal Opera debut in the 2017/18 Season as First Soldier (Salome).

Páll studied viola and singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, and went on to further singing studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg. As a violist he played in orchestras including the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. From 2010 to 2012 he was a member of Hamburg State Opera’s Opera Studio. He has since returned to Hamburg State Opera to sing roles including Hermann Ortel (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Reinmar von Zweter (Tannhäuser), Doctor Grenvil (La traviata) and Harašta (The Cunning Little Vixen). He was a member of the Theater St Gallen 2014–16, where his roles included Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Astolfo (Lucrezia Borgia), Jacopo Loredano (I due Foscari), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Oroveso (Norma), Don Diègue (Le Cid) and Banco (Macbeth). He is currently a member of Munich’s Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, where his roles include Osmin, Leporello (Don Giovanni), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Nourabad (Les Pêcheurs de perles) and Guard/Commander Klein (Morse’s Frau Schindler). Other appearances include King Heinrich (Lohengrin) for Opéra national de Montpellier.

Páll’s concert appearances include Handel’s Susanna in Madrid and in the Golden Hall at Vienna’s Musikverein, Bach’s Mass in B Minor at the Vienna Musikverein and Beethoven’s Symphony no.9 for Hungarian State Opera. In 2014 he was a finalist in the International Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
