Born in Spain, the young violinist attended the class for highly gifted children at the Hochschule Carl Maria von Weber under Olena Danyliuk in Dresden, Germany. For musical reasons Julia moved to Vienna with her family, in order to receive the best-possible education. Julia Dueñas is currently being taught by Lucy Hall as part of the support for highly gifted students at the Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule in Vienna.
Despite her young age Julia Dueñas has already won awards at several international competitions. For example, she won first prize at the Goldene Note Wettbewerb in 2018, first prize at the national youth music competition ‘Jugend Musiziert’, both at the state and regional level, achieving the maximum number of points, and second prize at the International Violin Competition Josef Micka in Prague. At the International Young Musician Competition in Treviso, Italy, she won an award both as a soloist and as part of the chamber music competition. Prior to that she won first prize at the Prima La Musica competition in Italy for chamber music, which allowed her to participate in the national competition in June 2017. Most recently she won a first prize with special distinction from the JSBM, which gave her the right to play in their orchestra as a soloist.
Julia Dueñas has performed in the Mozerthaus in Vienna. Further concerts with orchestras are planned for the upcoming season.
