Hanneke de Wit studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and continued her studies at the New Opera Academy.
Hanneke de Wit played various opera roles including Euridice in Gluck's Orfeo and Euridice with the orchestra of the East, Pamina in Mozart's Zauberflöte in the Amsterdam Rai, Contessa in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with the Gelders Orchestra, First Lady in Mozart's Zauberflöte with the Combattimento Consort and Malvina in Marschner's Der Vampyr during the Grachtenfestival.
At the Reisopera she sang the roles of Grande Pretesse in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie and Woglinde in the successful production Wagners Rheingold and Götterdämmerung o.l.v. Ed Spanjaard. During the farewell concerts of Ed Spanjaard of the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Hanneke Le Martyre of Debussy sang.
In 2007, Hanneke de Wit made her debut with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Bruckner's Third Mass in F minor, including Philippe Herreweghe. She toured with Mozart's Requiem with the Brabant Orchestra conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend and with Die Schöpfung by Haydn with the Orchestra of the eighteenth century conducted by Frans Brüggen. Together with conductor Peter Dijkstra she sang Matinee Bach’s Magnificat and Mattheus Passion in Saturday and with Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder in 2012 with a choreography by Introns o.lv. Nicolai Alexeev.
In 2014, the Reisopera will resume the staged production of Bach's Johannes Passion by director Dale Duesing, in which Hanneke will once again sing the soprano part. She also sings Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.
In 2004 Hanneke de Wit won the prestigious Christina Deutekom Opera Cncours. During the International Vocal Competition in Den Bosch, she was awarded the Caroline Kaart Prize in 2006 for the best Dutch singer.
Hanneke de Wit is a principal subject teacher at the Prince Claus Conservatory. She also studied German Language and Literature at Leiden University.
