About

Florian Gmelin studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich with Matthias Weber and Thomas Jauch.

He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of the European Union and a fellow of the Munich Orchestra Academy. From 2002 to 2008 he was principal solo bassist with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. Since the season 2008/09 he plays in the same position in the Bavarian State Orchestra. In addition, he is involved as a board member of the Musical Academy.
