About
Eve Grinsztajn is a French ballerina born in 1981, currently first dancer at the Paris Opera.
As a child, Eve Grinsztajn is interested first of all in the study of the cello but, falling one day by chance on a film where Dominique Khalfouni repeats The Death of the Swan with Yvette Chauviré, she discovers herself a new passion. She starts dancing in a small Parisian school, and participates in many competitions of increasing importance. Refused to the audition of entry to the Dance School of the Paris Opera, Eve enters as a paying pupil in 1994 (she will not really enter the School in the second division, two years later late, thanks to Violette Verdi: the former director of the Opera Ballet noticed it and mentioned it to the director of the little rats). During these four years of study, she dances in various ballets, such as The Sleepwalker (Marius Petipa), Evening Song (Jiří Kylián) and The Cadet Ball (David Lichine).
Eve Grinsztajn, then aged 17, joined the Opera Ballet at the end of the entrance examination. She also participates in the International Dance Competition of Paris and finishes finalist.
Eve Grinsztajn will dance a few years as a quadrille, since she does not become a coryphae in 2003. Her first appearance as a soloist occurs by chance in May 2004: she must replace at short notice Delphine Moussin, wounded when she had to interpret the role of the Street Dancer at the premiere of Don Quixote. In 2005, she rose to the rank of subject, thanks to soloists drawn from Raymonda and L'Histoire de Manon (the star dancer Aurélie Dupont then helped her to work on this solo), then, two years later, she became the first dancer to perform variations extracted from La Bayadère (Rudolf Nureyev), and Other Dances (Jerome Robbins).
