Nominated this season Music Director of National de Metz and the Lausanne Sinfonietta, David Reiland was the leader of the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra since 2012 as well as the contemporary Lucillin-United Instruments of Luxembourg, since 2014 Artistic Advisor and Principal Guest Conductor at the Saint-Etienne Opera and Artistic and Musical Director of de Lausanne Sinfonietta from 2017.
Since 2006, David Reiland has been frequently invited as conductor to the Hallé, Age of Enlightenment, Luxembourg Philharmonic, Stuttgart Chamber, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Basel Symphonic orchestras. Renowned as a full hearted Mozart-conductor, he worked for many years with Mozarteum Salzburg Orchestra, conducted The Magic Flute, The Clemenza di Tito in Saint Etienne, Mithridate in Paris and is invited by the Aix-en-Provence Festival to bring Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte to Seoul in 2018.
David Reiland recorded a monographic CD with works by Benjamin Godard with the Münchner Rundfunk Orchestra, premiered Gounod’s Cinq Mars in Leipzig 2017 and will conduct The Pearl Fishers in 2018 at the Royal Flemish Opera.
Highlights of 2018/2019 season include a Mozart project in the Concertgebouw with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, Samson and Dalila in Massy Opera and Bizet Pêcheurs des Perles at the Royal Flamish Opera, Cosi fan tutte at the Korean National Theater in Seoul as well as a new Mozart programme at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris.
David Reiland was schooled at the Royal Music Conservatory of Brussels, at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, at the Salzburg Mozarteum University. Dennis Russel Davies and Jorge Rotter coached him. He studied composition with Alexander Müllenbach.
