Conxita Garcia is the director of the Choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, a position that projects her as one of the most important figures in the choral direction of his generation.
Born in Barcelona, he graduated in conducting, conducting choir and singing. He was the founding director of the Young Choir of the Orfeó Català and deputy director of the Orfeó Català. He has also been director of the Choir of Friends of the Opera of Girona and president of the Federation of Young Chorals of Catalonia, with whom he was awarded the National Culture Prize of the Generalitat de Catalunya (1994).
In parallel to the activity as the director of the choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu and as the guest conductor of other choirs, he also develops an important pedagogical task in international coral conducting courses.
He has made numerous concerts for the best rooms in Europe and numerous recordings for CD, DVD, radio and television.
He debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu as assistant teacher of the Choir and has collaborated in the musical direction of different operatic productions. Continuing the style of singing initiated by Romano Gandolfi and followed by José Luis Basso, from whom Conxita Garcia was assistant director, he was appointed titular director of the Choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 2015.
