«The Lord of the Rings» Symphony

For 25 years, the 21st Century Orchestra has dedicated itself to the entire spectrum of film music and has made a name for itself not only as an integral part of the KKL Lucerne, but also from New York, London and Paris to Dubai. Since its founding in 1999, over a hundred musicians have been committed to the idea of bringing film music into the concert hall. Touching sounds from early silent films to stirring melodies from contemporary Hollywood hits are the credo and passion of the 21st Century Orchestra, led by conductor Ludwig Wicki since the beginning. The orchestra's professionalism and versatility inspire the most sought-after film music composers and industry experts: Oscar winners such as Michael Giacchino ("Star Trek", "Ratatouille"), Ludovic Bource ("The Artist") and Howard Shore ("The Lord of the Rings») always work closely with the Lucerne Orchestra. The orchestra can look back on numerous world premieres - unforgotten: Hvoward Shore's breathtaking symphony for "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. In the anniversary season, the 21st Century Orchestra will bring the work to the KKL stage for the first time since its premiere in 2011. “I would like to thank Ludwig Wicki for his masterful approach to bringing this score to life!” said Howard Shore. A celebratory, thrilling anniversary concert that will transform Lucerne's large concert hall into a symphonic setting in Middle-earth and not only captivate film fans.
