Lido Adriano

Lido Adriano

Lido Adriano is a fraction of the municipality of Ravenna, located about 9 km from the city and directly facing the Adriatic Sea. It is part of the Lidi Sud together with the hamlets of Marina di Ravenna, Punta Marina, Lido di Dante, Lido di Classe and Lido di Savio.

The name is a quotation from a well-known passage in the Divine Comedy (Paradiso, canto XXI, v. 123): "Nostra Donna sul lito Adriano" (where "Adriano" is a form of "Adriatico"). In the poem, Dante refers to the monastery of Santa Maria in Porto founded by the canons of Portuense, where a precious image was preserved: the Greek Madonna.

Lido Adriano is one of the most modern coastal towns of Ravenna (in fact the town was built in the sixties of the twentieth century) and is also the most visited, surpassing even the famous Marina di Ravenna in terms of presences during the summer.
