Ballet Nacional de España

Ballet Nacional de España

Few creators were able to turn dance into story, gesture into emotion and tradition into avant-garde the way master choreographer José Granero.

And he is at the epicentre of this programme. Leyenda [Legend] depicts passion as a seesaw between desire and torment, in which drawing closer only leads to aggression, despair and solitude. In Bolero, the inexorable beat of the music underlies a hypnotic ceremony of shapes and shadows, multiplied by the Art Nouveau-inspired mirrors on-stage. The music of Manolo Sanlúcar and the playwright Miguel Narros merge in Medea, a superlative interpreta-tion of this deeply rooted Mediterranean myth in which dance explodes in a catharsis of rage and destruction.
