Born in Rijeka, Croatia, Anamarija Knego graduated from Zagreb’s Music Academy in flute and voice and she received her diploma in opera singing.

As a soloist with the National Theater in Rijeka she performed roles as Miss Jessel in B. Britten’s “The turn of the screw”, Tatiana in “Eugene Onegin”, Cleopatra in Handel’s “Giulio Cesare in Egitto”, Desdemona in Verdi’s “Otello”, Mimi in “La Bohème”, Alice Ford in “Falstaff”, Juliette in “Romeo et Juliette” by Gounod and Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro”. In 2015, she sang Tatiana in Krakow, Poland, next to Mariusz Kwiecien as Eugene Onegin.

Her interpretation of Miss Jessel in “The turn of the screw” won her the prize for Croatian Best Female Opera Singer. Further awards include the “Štefanija Lenković price” for her interpretation of Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in 2015/16 as well as the following season 2016/2017 for her Desdemona in “Otello”.

During the season 2019/2020 Anamarija will perform Mimi and Cleopatra in Savonlinna, Finland, followed by Madama Butterfly and Roxanna in “King Roger” by K. Szymanowski.
