Kungsholms Fort, 370 45 Tjurkö, Karlskrona, Sweden
Kungsholm Fortress Tickets & Tours
Along with Drottningskär's citadel on Aspö, the two fortifications have kept an eye on the inlet to Karlskrona for more than 300 years. By order from the king, Karl XI, the Swedes started building something on a small islet out in the archipelago, that one day would amount to the fortification known as Kungsholms Fort. Kungsholm fort is still in use to this date as a part of the Swedish defense and has been so for over 300 years. The strange " round harbor" out on the fortress has become something of a symbol for Karlskrona as a UNESCO World Heritage.
