Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island Tickets & Tours

The Gullah Museum is located in the "Little Blue House", built in 1930 for William (Dewey) Simmons, the grandson of a former slave. The museum and its collection of buildings revive, restore, preserve, protect and interpret the Gullah culture that existed on Hilton Head Island before the bridge to the mainland was built in 1956. Most of the museum is still under restoration and development. The Gullah culture, a mixture of African and English cultures that emerged during the American slavery period, is unique to the south of Lowcrathri.
The mission of the Gullah Museum on Hilton Head Island is to revive, restore and preserve the history of the Gullah on Hilton Head Island.
