Programme
Overview

Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra has been making every effort to promote the creation and performance of new works. Xinghai Concert Hall has also become the main venue for promoting new works to the audience and promoting the gorgeous bloom of "Premiere Night".

On October 5, the audience will witness the "premiere" of two new works. The erhu and orchestra concerto "Nine Songs" composed by composer Zhou Long will be performed by Director Huang Yi and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with erhu player Lu Yiwen for the world premiere. The work is based on the eleven chapters of the symphonic epic "Nine Songs", with the erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument with rich human voice, as the protagonist. Through the one-to-one correspondence with specific Western instruments in different movements, it creates many vivid characters and musical images of the combination of man and god.

Swiss composer Richard Dubnon's fantasy concerto "Eternal Love" for cello, piano and orchestra is dedicated to the famous pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and cellist Gautier Capuçon. The French color, transparent harmony and delicate rhythm are tailor-made to highlight the outstanding talents of the two musicians. This time, the two French music masters and old friends of Xinghai Concert Hall will collaborate to present the Chinese premiere of this work.
