Vello Pähn (born May 30, 1958 in Tallinn) is an Estonian conductor.
 

Life and music
Vello Pähn graduated in 1981 with a degree in choral conducting from Olev Oja at the State Tallinn Conservatory (Tallinna Riiklik Konservatoorium). There he also studied orchestral conducting with Roman Matsov. In 1986 he graduated from the Conservatory in Leningrad with the Latvian conductors Arvīds and Mariss Jansons.

From 1981 to 1989 Pähn was the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the State Tallinn Conservatory. Since 1981 he conducts at the Estonian National Opera in the Estonian capital, since August 1, 2012, he is its chief conductor.

Since 1988 Pähn has also conducted performances abroad, including the Paris Opera, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Savonlinna Opera Festival, the Hamburg State Opera, the Latvian National Opera in Riga, the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki and the State Opera Unter den Linden in Berlin. From 2003 to 2007 Pähn was the general bandmaster of the orchestra in Kuopio, Finland.

Since 1992, Vello Pähn has regularly been engaged by the Hamburg Ballet, where he has previously conducted John Neumeier's "Cinderella", "Le Sacre du printemps", "Fifth Symphony by Gustav Mahler", "Othello", "Swan Lake" and "The Camellia Lady".
